Allergy

March 28th, 2006

I felt a little sick today. My eyes watered a little and my nose was stuffy. It is almost that time of the year. Seeing that the weather seem to be optimal for pollen propagation, I decided to check this page. Sadly to say, my instinct was right. Today is the first day this year that the pollen count is recorded here in State College, and the count is *VERY HIGH*. If there is a reason to move away from here, then this is it!

Anyway, I have decided that I am not giving in to allergy this year. I will fight it, and I will be free! It’s all in the mind….

Workout

March 28th, 2006

I started going to the gym again yesterday (and today). The last time I went to the gym was probably in May of last year.I just realized how weak I am! I guess I would have to start over. The main reason why I am going to the gym is because I am getting big. When I went back to Thailand last July, I weighed 120 lbs. When I came back in November, I weighs 130 lbs. It stayed there for quite a while until the past several weeks that I got to go to New York and had good food several times. The result is that I now weighs 135 lbs. I guess I’m not heavy, but all the food that I eat go to my face and my stomach! Hey, I just want to look good too, you know.. I got a 3-month membership at the gym. We will see what happens in 3 months!

Colors or B& W?

March 24th, 2006

So, the Thai Night album has been up for about 5 hours. It’s interesting to see that the black & white album is receiving only about 30% of the total hit counts. It makes me wonder why colored photos are more appealing than black & white. Personally, at least for this album, I like the black & white ones more. I feel that some of the colored ones have harsh shadow due to the flash, while some have color problems in skin tone. On the other hand, I find the black & white ones to be visually pleasing because of the color contrast.

I do hope that people will start to look at the black & white album more! For this, I am posting a direct link to the black & white album…

Thai Night Photos

March 24th, 2006

The photos are finally here! It took me forever to process them all. I am still trying to integrate the album into this blog, but I would like to have the new theme I’m working on up first. So, just hold your breath for the new look!

The gallery is here.

Back to 60%!

March 22nd, 2006

So I just checked at the online status of the CMU application and learned that the application was declined. It was a heartbreaker, but I’m okay. Mmm… maybe I’m not a PhD material? I guess I’ll never find out in the near future. I’ll probably make a final decision between Penn State and Michigan very soon.

If things happen for a reason, then there may be a reason for this. I would like to think that way, but we will see what happens after I get my master.

Thai Night

March 20th, 2006

I went to the Thai Night today to take photos. It was pretty tiring to walk around and take photos for 6 hours straight! Coming back home and seeing some photos that turned out well untires (i know the word probably doesn’t exist, but just assume that it does) me almost totally. I’ve got to say that this year’s Thai Night was organized pretty well. The food looks great and the portion given was much larger than last year. I don’t know how they taste yet, but I will get to tomorrow as I brought home the leftover. The Krapao Kai and Kai-dow that P’Noom and P’Yot made for us was great. I think we all will miss P’Yot’s cooking when he gratuates (I’m glad P’Noom & P’Jae+ are opening a restaurant!).

Overall, the event seems more organized than previous years, and the performance seems to be better rehearsed. I guess that we have been learning from the past to make things better.

I know nobody from the club reads this blog, but I want to thank them all for this great event!

I’ve been processing the photos I took since I got back, but it seems that it will take a while before I would finish them all. For the couple of people that reads this blog, please just hang in there, and I will post them soon!

Mmm..I’m tired… bed… sleep… muh….
ZZZZzzzzZzzzzz..

75% (so far)

March 18th, 2006

So I went back home and found a big package from Cornell’s Graduate School today. I (almost) did not have to open it to realize that it was an acceptance letter and a welcome packet. It reminds me of those undergrad decision letters. You almost know whether you get accepted or not by looking at the size of the envelope. It seems to be a little different with grad school, however, as I have been receiving 3 different looks of acceptance notice from 3 universities (unofficial e-mail, regular envelope, and big envelope). As usual, I was not offerred any funding for the program. I guess it is more difficult to get funding as a master applicant (or maybe it’s just me?!). This decision has increased my application success rate from 66.666…6% to 75%. I’m eager to see whether the next one would bring it up or down!

I’ll continue saving up to get myself through grad school… mmm… ramen noodles….
