Consent Form
April 18th, 2006
While sitting at work today and pondering about my decisions in life, I thought of an e-mail that Amy, a friend of mine (Scott’s sister), sent to me a couple of months back. It was very funny at the time (and still is) because I opened it up at 5 in the morning during a camp out night at the company working on a project…
This is the consent form that we think that schools should have students read and signed before they are enrolled in any computer science/engineering programs.
———- CONSENT FORM ———-
1. I understand fully that during my college days pursuing the CSE major, I will have little or no social life.
2. I understand fully that I will be sleeping mostly at the computer labs.
3. I understand fully that I will only have time to talk to my lab partners and occasionally on birthdates to my family or friends (whatever ones that I still have left).
4. I understand fully that once I graduate from school most there’s a 80.8% chance that I will end up in a technical position and will have no life.
5. I understand fully that once I enter a technical programming position I will work like indentured servants and have no life. That the main purpose of my waking hours and nights will be to complete projects on time. That the weekends are just extended working days and that I will work more than 12 hour days on weekdays.
6. That I will be sitting for 90% in my awake state and my ass will be flat.

Experiment
April 17th, 2006
I recently decided to experiment with my facial hair a little. I haven’t shaved for almost three weeks already. I only trimmed the sides off a little today. We will see what happens after a couple more weeks…
Oh.. and the gallery is updated with spring photos..
Tennis
April 16th, 2006
The weather has been gorgeous for the past several days. It’s time to start playing tennis again! I went to play tennis with Scott today. The last time that I played was probably a year ago. It’s been so long, but I still like the game. I realized that I might need to cut my hair because they are all over my face, and I can’t see the ball coming at me!
I also shed blood today. I was toward the front of the net when Scott hit a lob shot. So I ran back and tried this maneuver hitting the ball between my leg from the front. I almost hit the ball, but I was running toward the back of the court too fast and couldn’t stop. The end result was that I hit the wire fence and one of my fingers got caught in a part of the fence that sticks out (that’s very dumb.. whoever made that should be hit with a tennis raquet). I now have a two-inch long cut on my left middle finger. Also, I don’t like these fences any more. I think they replaced all of them a year back or something. I used to like them because they were sturdy. I could run to it, hit it, grabbed it, hung in there (or bounced back), and be fine. These new ones are pretty loose, which means that it would not support my weight. I would just keep going if I hit it…
Just another entry
April 13th, 2006
It seems that I haven’t been posting anything for a while (been busy with work, tax, and whatnot), so I guess I will just write something before I go to bed *yawn*.
I read this comic strip from PhD Comic the other day (for those of you who are not familiar with PhD Comic, and already have enough work to do, let me warn you not to go there. Please do not come back and say that I did not warn you so…)
It pretty much prepares me for what I am getting myself into… but first, I’ll have to find a lab… :p
An apple a day…
April 6th, 2006
And so it would seem that Apple has been busy for a while now. The past two days had marked a major leap for the apple community. Yesterday, Apple announced that they are providing a dual-boot solution (to run Windows XP) for their intel-macs. Today, Parallels released a beta version of their virtualization software for Mac OS X running on intel-macs. This is remarkable! I have always wanted to try a mac, but have never got around to (due to price and also software that I need). Now, I could get a machine that would take any operating systems I throw at. That’s what I would call bang for the bucks!
