While sitting at work today and pondering about my decisions in life, I thought of an e-mail that Amy, a friend of mine (Scott’s sister), sent to me a couple of months back. It was very funny at the time (and still is) because I opened it up at 5 in the morning during a camp out night at the company working on a project…

This is the consent form that we think that schools should have students read and signed before they are enrolled in any computer science/engineering programs.

———- CONSENT FORM ———-

1. I understand fully that during my college days pursuing the CSE major, I will have little or no social life.

2. I understand fully that I will be sleeping mostly at the computer labs.

3. I understand fully that I will only have time to talk to my lab partners and occasionally on birthdates to my family or friends (whatever ones that I still have left).

4. I understand fully that once I graduate from school most there’s a 80.8% chance that I will end up in a technical position and will have no life.

5. I understand fully that once I enter a technical programming position I will work like indentured servants and have no life. That the main purpose of my waking hours and nights will be to complete projects on time. That the weekends are just extended working days and that I will work more than 12 hour days on weekdays.

6. That I will be sitting for 90% in my awake state and my ass will be flat.
